Rupini Kamat

Rupini is from the Bay Area and is excited to be joining the SIL teaching team. She completed her B.S. at UCLA before returning to the Bay to pursue her Ph.D. in physics at Stanford. In her Ph.D. research, she studied the novel electronic properties of various atomically thin materials including graphene. 

While in graduate school she taught for many introductory physics courses, and developed a passion for helping first-time physics learners build their physics understanding through hands-on problem solving and experiments. She cares deeply about helping each student build critical thinking skills that will enable them to tackle new challenges, inside and outside the classroom, with confidence. She strives to create a learning environment which is supportive, approachable, and encourages students' sense of curiosity and wonder towards the physical world. 

Outside of teaching, Rupini loves to knit and crochet, spend time outdoors, try new recipes, and serve her local South Bay community.
