Marta Sanchez Vásquez

Marta Sanchez Vásquez

A native of Bogotá, Colombia, Marta traveled widely, sailed around the world and  lived in many countries before coming to the US. Settling in San Francisco, she  studied at the San Francisco Art Institute, where she was awarded a BFA in  Photography then onto the MFA program. An established installation artist, Marta  focuses on the use of natural materials and everyday elements.

Soon after graduation, she found work in graphic design; after several years working  in various media, Marta realized that she wanted to focus on her art. Teaching has  given her the liberty to do so – as well as fulfilling her desire to share knowledge. She  has been teaching in San Francisco for over 18 years

“Teaching art gives me the opportunity to share my love of art and instill in students a  knowledge and appreciation of the creative spirit that will carry them throughout  life.”

Marta is currently represented by Don Soker Gallery in San Francisco. Her work has  been exhibited nationally and internationally and resides in numerous private and  public collections.
