Adam comes with a diverse cultural and social background in education, having taught at the public, private and university level in Texas, Washington state, the US Virgin Islands, New York and California. He earned a double major in English Language & Literature and Spanish Language & Literature from the University of North Texas, with the latter coursework completed in Seville, Spain. At Syracuse University, he worked as a non-profit program and outreach coordinator and university teaching assistant. He has primarily worked with grades 7-12, where he developed individualized curriculum and integrative learning for students with specific learning differences, as well as popular creative writing and musical production workshops for poetry, lyrical song writing, music production, art, and dance, and solicited partnerships and support from cultural organizations such as Hip Hop for Change. The core of his teaching philosophy and pedagogy is based on the maieutic method of inquiry-based learning that utilizes Socratic dialogue, logic and rhetoric as its main focus and model. Through Socratic Circles and/or Seminars students participate in daily writing, reading, dialogue and reflection to sharpen their thinking and improve their ability to interpret and critically analyze classical, modern and contemporary literature. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his lovely daughter and family, exploring and hiking the beautiful California landscape, or reading various esoteric and philosophy books, along with Victorian and Edwardian literature, and watching Major League Baseball.
