Adam Sgrenci

Adam’s interest in History stretches far back, but it wasn’t until the early 1980’s when he began to realize how badly he wanted to teach. That’s why he’s so thrilled to be apart of the Social Studies Department at SIL. “I love that each student I meet brings with them a unique world view. It keeps me on my toes and make every class more interesting than the last!” Adam received his bachelor’s degree in Economics from Bucknell University in Pennsylvania. He then took a job as a social worker in NYC for an organization serving victims of the 9/11 World Trade Center attack.  After the funding for that program ended, he made the move to California and began his graduate studies in International Relations at SFSU. Simultaneously, he took a job writing and teaching about Latin American Social Movements. When he’s not teaching about history, he’s making it by traveling around the world with his wife and two daughters every chance he gets!

Adam is the founder and Executive Director of the Center for Infrastructure and Society. CIS is a partner to SIL’s BILD program - which is developing innovative approaches in Construction education and regenerative building practices.
